This year, REINVENTION returns to Singapore Science Park with a special edition exploring the role of play in discovery, experimentation and meaningful connection. Through the lens of design, REINVENTION: ALLPLAY considers play not simply as leisure but, as N. V. Scarfe described it, “the highest form of research”. A way to question conventions, test possibilities and imagine new ways of moving, making and relating to one another.
Curated by CapitaLand Development in partnership with OuterEdit, and supported by DesignSingapore Council, this three-month programme brings together a series of interventions, collaborations and participatory experiences designed to explore ‘PLAY’ as a catalyst for creativity, movement and social connection in today's ever-evolving world.

Curated by CapitaLand Development in partnership with OuterEdit, and supported by DesignSingapore Council, this four-month programme brings together a series of interventions, collaborations and participatory experiences designed to explore ‘PLAY’ as a catalyst for creativity, movement and social connection in today's ever-evolving world.
In a world shaped by screens, schedules, systems and the constant pursuit of optimisation, where does play fit, and why does it still matter?

An evolving experiment developed in collaboration with Calvin Chua (architect and urban strategist), Edmund Zhang (play designer) and The Ark (sports facility specialists), the PlayCourt explores what can happen when the conventions of the court meet the possibilities of play. Discover new possibilities when the familiar rules and social energy of the courts meet the openness, imagination and adaptability of play at the PlayCourt.

What happens when a court is made by the people who use it? From a mural that takes shape one hand at a time to familiar games reinvented for new ways to play, the PlayCourt is constantly being redefined by everyone who plays on it.
